Haha, they really did? THEY DID!!!! Awesome. It’s awesome in the first place to see this battling against GT3s in the first place of course, what a race...

Yeah, it really awesome they did this. Story goes they used to have a LED light on the antenna, but that was forbidden by the stewards, so as a way of getting back at the stewards they fitted the foxtail, because they couldn’t ban that.
I must say the Manta and the Corrado were my favourite oddball cars of the race, since both were fitted with wings and splitters to make them competitive despite their age.

Hahaha, what’s the point of that LED??? The foxtail is so much more Manta, too bad they didn’t use a bigger antenna though.
Als goed Nederlander heb je toch wel Manta Manta gezien hoop ik he...

Maybe a brief explanation on the Manta scene (including terrible Manta owners’ jokes and their habit of fitting foxtails to the aerials, etc) is in order for the benefit of Opponauts on the other side of the Atlantic?
(By the way, did they have a similar reputation in the Netherlands...?)

Could be a good idea, though I can’t think of a good manta joke from the top of my head.
Yes their reputation was similar to that in the rest of Europe. The reputation was even re-introduced to the younger generation in a 2010 movie called New Kids Turbo, which features a bright green Manta on Ronal turbo wheels, and some 90s scum.

It was intended to make the car recognisable in the dark, during the 24 hours.
Natuurlijk!

Disappointingly it didn’t get very far into this years 24. Also the Foxtails twitter is gold.

Teams put lights on their cars to make them identifiable at night. Highbeams all look the same so a bit of colored light really helps.

Luckily it won it’s class in the 6 hour race where I took this picture. It finished 71 overall.
Yes, race summary: flapflapflapflap

Thanks, I did get the color part but the location on an antenna just feels... odd?
How’s the phone?

It was most likely an LED strip running the length of the Antena. The Porsche factory team in the USCC does the same thing.
Still dead. My old Galaxy S4 should be getting to my dorm today and should hold me over (with the help of my 12,000mAh battery bank) until my Pixel arrives later this week (if it ever ships).

It’s a pretty accurate representation of how I would tackle a race at the Nurburgring. Get something slow but fun and just have a grand old time running towards the back. Until a GT3 goes by and you crap yourself.
